Carousel, a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, tells the story of Billy Bigelow, a charming but flawed carousel barker, and his tumultuous romance with Julie Jordan, a millworker. Their love is complicated by Billy's temper, financial struggles, and ultimately, a botched robbery that leads to his death. Sent to purgatory, Billy is given a chance to return to Earth for one day to make amends and redeem himself. He encounters his now teenage daughter, Louise, and learns of the impact his actions have had on her life.
